This is a family favorite in our house, probably cause mommy does an awesome job with all the voices. A witch wants to have pumpkin pie for Halloween so she plants a seed and tends to it, but it grows into such a BIG pumpkin, she’s not able to get it off the vine. Along comes a ghost, who thinks he could get it off, and he tries, but he couldn’t get it off either. Then a vampire comes alone, and a Mummy, and both of them couldn’t get that pumpkin off either. But then someone comes along, who doesn’t have big muscles, but a good idea… and what do you think happens next? The story ends with everyone have yummy pumpkin pie and the planting of yet another seed for next year’s pumpkin pie. We love this story, and it is a lot more fun if you do voices for all 5 characters. It has some repetitive speech each time a new character comes into the story and that makes it fun when reading it to the kids cause they remember what was said and start to tell the story along with you. If I was to say there was anything I would change about the story, it would be that I wished the artist did a lighter color of the “night time” sky behind the characters cause as you can see from the cover it’s a little chard to tell where the characters begin and end and what’s just scenery behind them. It may not sound like a big deal but when I’m reading to both kids and they’re not very up close to the book they say they “can’t see the pictures” when really, it’s just they can’t make out all the details on the page because a lot of the page is colored so dark.
